Places of interest in France, Paris

August 28th, 2007

From the lights of Paris to the glitz and glamor of the French Riviera, France is a tourist destination. In fact, it is the tourist destination.
Once again, France is the top tourist destination in the world with 78 million people heading to the country in 2006. Only about 60 or so million people live in France, and about 2 million of them are employed in Hotels in France, bars, restaurants, cafes and other entities supported by tourists.

Aside from the sun worshipers and cultural tourists, France also draws a number of religious tourists, mostly to Lourdes.

There are so many cozy Hotels in Paris within your budget to cater to all your comforts, but it is better to book them in advance.
Must Go list in Paris:

1. Notre Dame Cathedral (Cathedrale de Notre Dame de Paris)
The sounds and smells and light inside the cathedral are spiritual. Light a candle for someone, it is worth the contribution you pay.

2. Musee du Louvre
You will love this place!! Spend a whole day at the Louvre and still you will not see all that you wanted to see. The Sculptures Hall will impress you. The building is beautiful and well laid out. The gift shops are nice and have a good selection and the restaurants are nice.

3. Musee National du Moyen Age-Thermes et Hotel de Cluny
A trove of treasures. The famous Unicorn Tapestries are here. This will give you a great experience and is not to be missed.

4. Versailles
Amazing is the only word to describe. From the moment you step off the train and begin the short walk to the grounds, you are amazed and surrounded by opulence. Everything is on a grand scale and definitely fit for a king! The outdoor gardens are spectacular. The chocolate ice cream pops are great!! Enjoy just “being” by sitting on a bench and watching the people and the world go by. Don’t skip this one!

5. Luxembourg Gardens (Jardin du Luxembourg)
A place to relax in France. Enjoy the beautiful flowers and people watching.

6. Sainte-Chapelle
Another beautiful Cathedral, although not as spiritual and moving as Notre Dame, still very impressive. Large display of stained glass is beautiful. Try to go when it is bright outside so the glass really shows up.

7. Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel), Paris

Completed in 1889, this colossal landmark, although initially hated by many Parisians, is now a famous symbol of French civic pride. Attraction type: Observation deck/tower; Monument; Landmark/point of interest; Architectural building; Mall; Historic site.

8. Arc de Triomphe, Paris

This world-famous landmark structure has served ever since the days of Napoleon as a symbol of victory for triumphant French troops returning home. Attraction type: Architectural building; Landmark/point of interest; Monument; Historic site.

These are only a few items to mention, just book a Paris Hotel and enjoy your vacation at your heart’s content.
